Addiction is recognized as a medical condition, and as such, you could be entitled to certain protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act, which safeguards against job discrimination due to a disability. Should the ADA not apply to your employer, you might be eligible for up to 12 weeks of leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act.
Your level of coverage depends on the details of your insurance policy, but the Affordable Care Act requires health insurance companies to cover some type of treatment for addiction. To find out what your plan covers, call Virtue at the Pointe and ask a staff member to verify your benefits.
Family support is essential for a successful recovery. You’ll have limited contact with your family during detox, but you’ll be able to call and let them know how you’re doing. When you enter residential treatment, approved family members will be allowed to visit you or attend family therapy sessions.
It depends on many factors, including the severity of your addiction and whether you have any other mental health disorders. Detox usually lasts for up to seven days, while residential treatment lasts an average of 23 to 35 days.

Mike’s current passions are directed at supporting the community that has been so good to him the last 29 years. It saddens him to see so many of his Veteran family members take their lives, struggle everyday with addiction and mental health disorders then become houseless. Mike understands and knows there is more he can do to help and made the decision to join the team at Virtue Recovery Centers to have a direct impact on those that need support and assistance to navigate the process.
After retiring from the Army Mike participated in a Thru-Hike of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2021, completing all 2653 miles sponsored by Warriors Expeditions. Earning the trail name “AWOL” Mike personally understands the significance and importance of outdoor therapy in helping military Veterans with PTSD.
