Veterans CPT track
Trauma work built for people who served.
Houston runs a dedicated Cognitive Processing Therapy track for veterans, with a higher clinician-to-client ratio and more intensive individual support than standard programming. It's designed around the specific ways trauma shows up for people who have served, and it sits inside the same clinical structure as the rest of the facility.
Your first 24 hours
- 1
You meet your case manager
Within the first 24 hours, along with your primary clinician.
- 2
A full clinical assessment
Done immediately rather than scheduled for later in the week.
- 3
A treatment plan written for you
Established on day one, then revised as your care progresses.
Two levels of care
Stabilize, then stay and do the work.
Detox and residential run as one continuous plan rather than two separate admissions. Daily clinical groups run six times a week — substance education, process groups, medication and infectious-disease education.
Residential detoxification
Medically supervised, typically several days to around two weeks depending on what you're coming off and how your body responds.
Intensive residential
Commonly three weeks or longer depending on your plan and clinical needs. Family sessions weekly when they're productive.
No outpatient at this location
There is no PHP, IOP or outpatient programming on sitein Houston. When you're ready to step down, our team coordinates outpatient care through a trusted referral rather than handing you a list and wishing you luck.
If you're on methadone
This location can't continue methadone treatment or start a taperduring your stay. Call before admission so we can talk through your situation, including other locations in our network if that's the better fit.
Getting in
Four steps between the call and a bed.
Nothing here needs to be arranged in advance. Most of it happens on one phone call, and admissions answer around the clock.
- 1
You call
A real conversation about what has been happening — for you or for the person you are calling about. No script, no pressure.
- 2
We verify your plan
Free, and usually the same day. You find out what is covered and what a stay would actually cost before you commit to anything.
- 3
A clinical assessment
A short assessment works out whether you need detox first, what withdrawal risk looks like, and how long a stay would likely run.
- 4
You are admitted
We coordinate the arrival, including transport where it is needed. Most admissions happen within a day of the first call.
You can start the first step right now. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Court and probation
If the courts are involved, we've done this before.
Case management handles this from day one. You don't need any of it figured out before you call.
Documentation
Proof of admission, attendance and completion, prepared for whoever needs it.
Coordination
Direct contact with supervising officers and courts when that's part of your conditions.
Medical and housing
Addressed alongside the legal side, from your first day rather than at discharge.
Clinical approach
Licensed clinicians, evidence-based methods.

How this location is different
Small on purpose.
Virtue runs six facilities and they are not interchangeable. These are the things that are true of Houston specifically.
Small on purpose
Small enough that the clinical team knows every client by name, and small enough that groups are a conversation rather than an audience.
Trauma work, not just abstinence
EMDR and CPT are run by licensed clinicians here — for many people the trauma underneath is the actual reason the drinking never stopped.
Set back from the road
A quiet residential site in southwest Houston, away from neighboring properties. Privacy is a design decision, not a marketing line.
Detox and residential on one site
You do not move buildings or repeat your story to a new team when you step down. One admission, one plan, one set of people.
Court and probation, handled
We work with clients on probation or with pending court dates regularly, including coordinating documentation with officers and liaisons.
Two Texas facilities, one team
Houston and Killeen coordinate admissions between them, so if this location is not the right fit our team can arrange for you to be seen at the other.
Insurance
We accept most major insurance plans.
Cigna leads here, alongside a range of other commercial PPO and employer-based plans. The carriers shown here are examples, not the whole list — if your plan isn't among them, call anyway. Most PPO plans are accepted, and verification is free.
Verified the same day, usually
Coverage varies a lot by plan, so a five-minute call tells you more than any list can. There's no obligation attached to asking, and we can typically confirm your benefits the same day.
Also accepted here
- CHRISTUS Health Plan
- HealthCare Highway Plus
- Ambetter / Superior
- ComPsych (EAP)
- World Trade Center Health

★★★★★
I spent 90 days at Houston Virtue Recovery Center. I chose to do CPT therapy with GiGi and I am truly happy and grateful for being able to get help with my PTSD trauma. She is a truly amazing and caring woman that gives her all for the clients. The staff was truly amazing and attentive to all needs. I truly recommend Virtue Recovery Center to all that are needing or looking for recovery.
★★★★★
This was the first time for me to go to treatment. I feel so blessed that Virtue was the first and only one I called. I was very scared when I pulled up because I had never done this before. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with warmth and acceptance by the clients and staff. I would highly recommend Virtue to anyone seeking a safe place for recovery.
★★★★★
Truly a wonderful place. Laid back atmosphere but definitely not too laid back. The therapists are amazing, the nursing blew me away as well. All of the staff are amazing. The facility itself is very nice and always clean. Virtue Recovery saved my life — need I say more!
★★★★★
Excellent facility and program. Just the right size — 24 max clients — small atmosphere makes for a conducive environment to share and be heard. The techs are excellent and attentive, the counselors are amazing, and there's an extra level of care for veterans and trauma-related issues. Honestly I have no complaints. Best part — I'm leaving a better, stronger man than I was when I came in.
★★★★★
Our son was sent there after attempting suicide and battling with a severe alcohol addiction. The staff at Virtue saved his life! My son was released after a 90-day stay — he is sober and his depression issues are addressed. Like a different kid. He seems very positive and I can't say enough kind things about the staff that made him feel welcome and helped him. 10 stars wasn't an option.
★★★★★
This is the first time in 15 years that I've gone more than a month without getting high. I feel more confident in myself that I can continue without drugs in my life. The staff at Virtue are some of the best people I've met in years. They helped me make a big change in my life because I now desire a new life and Virtue gave me the confidence to pursue this new life. The staff at Virtue have been such a great help to me. I almost didn't want to leave.
★★★★★
Virtue Recovery has saved my life by teaching me skills I can use to promote a sober way of life. The staff is amazing and took the time to learn about my individual situation, creating an individualized treatment plan to make my recovery my own. They say everyone's recovery is different — I just want to thank them for their help in mine.
★★★★★
I can truly say this place saved my life. The person that walked out after 33 days was a completely different person than the one who walked in. The counselors are amazing, especially Michelle. She made a huge impact on me and helped so much in my recovery. Thank you, Virtue. I wouldn't be here to write this without you.

The honest version
Most Callers Are Looking for Inpatient Care, Not Just Detox — That's What Houston Is Built For
Detox alone often isn't enough, and that's reflected in what people ask us for here: more callers want residential treatment than detox by itself. Houston offers both on the same campus, so there's no gap between finishing detox and starting the real work of residential treatment — same team, same building, one continuum.
Common questions
Questions about Houston
You can call and ask any of these directly. No obligation, no pressure — someone answers 24 hours a day.
(866) 461-3339- Does Virtue Recovery Houston take my insurance?
- We accept most major insurance plans, along with a range of other commercial PPO and employer-based plans. Coverage can vary significantly by plan, so the fastest way to know exactly what's covered is a free, no-obligation insurance verification with our admissions team. We can typically confirm your benefits the same day.
- What levels of care does the Houston location offer?
- This location provides medically-supervised detox and Intensive Residential treatment, with most guests moving from a stabilization period in detox into residential care as their treatment plan progresses. Both levels work together as a single continuum of care.
- Do you offer outpatient or IOP at this location?
- Not on-site — this location focuses specifically on detox and residential care. When a guest is ready to step down, our team helps coordinate outpatient or IOP care through a trusted referral, so the transition is supported rather than left up to you to figure out alone.
- Do you have a program for veterans?
- Yes — Houston offers a specialized Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) track built specifically for veterans, with a higher clinician-to-client ratio and more intensive individual support than our standard programming. It's designed around the specific ways trauma shows up for people who've served.
- Can I get treatment here if I have a court date or I'm on probation?
- Yes — our case management team regularly supports clients navigating legal and probation-related requirements, including documentation and coordination with courts or supervising officers when needed. You don't need to have this figured out before you call; our team can walk you through it.
- How long is the program?
- Length of stay depends on your level of care and insurance — detox typically runs several days to about two weeks, and residential treatment can range from around three weeks to longer depending on your plan and clinical needs. Our team will walk you through realistic expectations for your specific situation before you commit to anything.
- Can I get help for a family member instead of myself?
- Absolutely. Plenty of people are asking on behalf of someone they love rather than for themselves. We can talk you through the options, help you understand insurance coverage, and guide you on how to have that conversation with your loved one.
- What if I'm on methadone or a similar medication?
- This location isn't able to continue methadone treatment or begin a taper during your stay, so it's important we talk through your specific situation before admission to make sure this is the right fit. Our team can help you understand your options, including other locations in our network if needed.
- How soon can I or my loved one be admitted?
- Our admissions team is available 24/7, and we can typically move quickly once your assessment and insurance verification are complete — the first step is just a confidential conversation, with no obligation.
