What this location is
A detox facility. We would rather say that now than have you find out later.
Sun City West does one thing: get you safely through withdrawal, under medical supervision, with nursing on site around the clock. There is no residential program here and no outpatient program with housing. What there is instead is a case manager who works on your next step while you are still here, so you leave with somewhere to go rather than a discharge paper.
Detox here, then what
Medical detox, here
Typically seven to ten days, depending on what your body needs and what your plan covers.
Case management, while you are still here
Your case manager starts on the next placement early, not on discharge day.
The next level of care, in the Arizona community
A coordinated referral to a residential or outpatient provider — a real handoff, not a phone number on a sheet.
Your first hour
From the front door to a bed, same day.
Most of the delay in getting help is administrative. We have taken as much of it out as we can — you can call at three in the morning and be admitted that morning.
- 1
You call
Any hour, any day of the year. Admissions runs a free insurance verification on the phone so you know where you stand before you drive anywhere.
- 2
Medical approval
A provider reviews your history and current use. This usually takes about half an hour, not half a day.
- 3
You arrive
A nurse assesses you within minutes of walking in — vitals, withdrawal risk, what medication you need and when.
- 4
You are admitted
Intake usually runs sixty to ninety minutes. Then you rest, and nursing checks on you every few hours through the night.
What we treat
Admission is a medical decision, not a checklist.
Whether this is the right place depends on your withdrawal risk, not only on what you have been using. Some substances carry a medical withdrawal that needs monitoring; others are better served by a different level of care. Our team assesses that individually on the phone before you come in — and will tell you honestly if we are not the right fit.

- Opioids, including fentanyl
- Benzodiazepines
- Stimulants
- Multiple substances at once
- Co-occurring mental health
Two things we are not
We are not a standalone Suboxone or methadone maintenance clinic, and we do not take people on for ongoing psychiatric medication management without a detox need. If that is what you are looking for, call anyway — we will point you somewhere that does it.
How this location is different
Clinical, not resort.
There is no gym here, no outings, and no visitors. What this building is built for is the medical part of getting clean, done properly. Below is what that actually means, including the parts people do not like.
Nursing, around the clock
Nurses on site day and night, checks every few hours, and a medical or psychiatric provider seen every day of your stay.
Fast, on purpose
We admit 24/7/365. Medical approval usually takes about thirty minutes because waiting is the thing that changes people's minds.
Couples can come together
One of the few Virtue locations that admits couples. You are housed separately and detox as individuals, but you are on the same property at the same time.
IV therapy and crisis stabilization
Including psychiatric stabilization, medical and psychiatric assessment, and medication administration throughout the day.
No visitors, at any time
A real difference from our other locations. Family and friends can drop off needed items during set hours, and staff will help you stay in contact.
Phones need prior approval
Cell phone use has to be approved before you are admitted. It is stricter here than anywhere else in the network, and we would rather you know before you pack.
The facility
Where you will actually be.
Photographs of this building, not stock images of somewhere else.

A day here
Sleep, medication, and small clinical groups.
The first two days are mostly rest and symptom management. As you start to feel human again, clinical groups run through the day — the point is to get you steady enough to make a real decision about what comes next.
- Process groups
- Individual check-ins
- Medication-assisted treatment
- Relapse-prevention planning
- Case management sessions
- Nursing checks through the night

Insurance
We accept most major insurance plans.
Aetna and Cigna (EverNorth) lead here, alongside several other commercial plans. Coverage varies by plan, so the fastest way to know for certain is a free verification — it takes a few minutes on the phone. Most PPO plans accepted.
Before you call
Have your card to hand if you can — the member ID is enough to start. If you do not have it, we can still begin the conversation.
Also accepted here
Also accepted: ComPsych (EAP), and most PPO plans. Coverage varies by plan and level of care — a free verification confirms exactly what applies to you.
What guests say

★★★★★
I am VERY pleased with this facility and what they provided for me. The staff and nurses are amazing, super kind, and understanding. They gave me a new outlook on life and I would recommend this place to anyone struggling and needing help going through detox.
★★★★★
The nurses are so amazing — Justin, Bre, and Jessica were so kind, amazing, and caring! I had a very difficult detox, but the nurses and staff made it so much better than I ever could have done it by myself. Thank you Virtue, and thank you Jessica, Bre, and Justin — you all are so awesome!
★★★★★
Almost 2 years ago my fiancé and I were on death's door with awful fentanyl and meth addictions. Within a few hours they had sent an Uber to pick us up and we began our sober journey. We had done 8–9 prior detoxes and none of them would stick. This one was so welcoming and helpful. After detox they helped us find longer-term treatment. Highly recommend this location to anyone struggling like we were.
★★★★★
The kindest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, catering to my every need. I freaked out while detoxing — hallucinations, bad dreams, bad come down. They made me as comfortable as they could. Not only me but everyone there. 100% best detoxing experience I've had, and I've had a few.
★★★★★
I just got out yesterday. I was scared shitless because I never been to a detox before but the staff made it easier! They really care. The facility and the rooms are super clean. TV in every room. & the food is pretty good! 10++++
★★★★★
Perfect place to detox if you're going through a difficult time. Update: I am now 289 days sober as a result of going through Virtue Detox — they really supported me when I needed it the most. They are very passionate about helping their clients and making sure they feel welcome. Thank you so much for all the support.
★★★★★
I had a great experience here. It was clean, the food was great and plentiful. The staff and nursing were very pleasant, professional, and friendly. I felt well rested and respected. I want to specifically acknowledge the kindness and respect I received from staff members Michael, Liz, and case manager Ricky. I recommend anyone to come to this location.

What stands out to me the most is the environment — this team really feels like a family. Most of the staff genuinely care about each other and the patients, which creates a supportive and positive atmosphere.

The honest version
The First Question Almost Everyone Asks: What Happens After Detox?
That's a fair question, and we'd rather answer it up front than let you find out later. Sun City West is a detox-only facility — we get you through withdrawal safely, with 24/7 nursing and a medical provider seen daily. From there, our team helps you connect with appropriate residential care in the Arizona community to keep working on what got you here in the first place. You'll have a real next step before you leave, not just a discharge.
Common questions
Questions about Sun City West
You can call and ask any of these directly. No obligation, no pressure — someone answers 24 hours a day.
(866) 461-3339- Does Virtue Detox take my insurance?
- We accept most major insurance plans. Because coverage can vary by plan, the fastest way to know for certain is a quick, free insurance verification with our admissions team.
- What level of care does this location offer?
- This location provides medically monitored detox for adults, with a focus on safe, supervised withdrawal management. If a longer continuum of care is needed afterward, our case management team helps coordinate the next step, even if that is with a different provider.
- Can my partner and I come to treatment together?
- Yes — this is one of the locations in our network where couples can be admitted together, and our team can walk you through what that looks like for your specific situation.
- How fast can I or my loved one be admitted?
- We admit 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and our team moves quickly — most guests are assessed by a nurse within minutes of arrival. Call anytime; there is no need to wait for a better time.
- What if I do not have insurance?
- Private pay is available for detox here. Our admissions team can talk through your options honestly, including a fast insurance verification, before you commit to anything.
- Can I have my phone during treatment?
- Cell phone use here requires prior approval before admission, given the medical and clinical focus of this level of care. Our team can explain exactly what to expect so there are no surprises when you arrive.
- Can family visit during treatment?
- This location does not accommodate visitors, given the medical nature of short-term detox care, though family and friends can drop off needed items during set hours. Our team can walk you through how to stay connected with your loved one during their stay.
- What happens after detox is complete?
- Our case management team helps you understand and coordinate next steps, whether that is residential treatment, outpatient care, or another appropriate level of support — you will not be left to figure it out alone once detox is complete.
- I am looking for help managing my psychiatric medications, not detoxing from a substance — is this the right fit?
- This location focuses specifically on medical detox rather than ongoing medication management, so it may not be the right fit for that specific need — but our team can help point you toward the right kind of care.
