Virtue welcomes first responders into treatment at every location, with a trauma-informed clinical model well suited to that experience. We'd rather tell you exactly what that means, and what it doesn't, than oversell it.

Where We Stand
Occupational trauma builds up differently for people who run toward emergencies for a living. Repeated exposure to critical incidents, shift-work strain, and a professional culture that often discourages asking for help all shape how substance use develops — and how it needs to be treated.
Virtue welcomes police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and corrections professionals into treatment at every location, on the same nondiscriminatory basis as every other client. Our clinical model is trauma-informed throughout the network, and Killeen in particular has an explicit trauma focus with EMDR and CPT available — therapies well matched to occupational and critical-incident trauma.
What we want to be direct about: this isn't a separate, dedicated first-responder track. Warriors Path, our program at Killeen, is built specifically for veterans. If you're a first responder, you're genuinely welcome in our general treatment programming — we just don't want you to arrive expecting a named program that doesn't exist yet.

Warriors Path at Killeen is a veteran-specific program — first responders are welcomed into our general trauma-informed treatment, not into Warriors Path itself. Ask admissions directly if dedicated programming is what you're looking for.

- Not as a separate, named track — we're direct about that. Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and corrections officers are welcomed into our general treatment programming at every location, and our trauma-informed clinical model — including EMDR and CPT, used heavily at our Killeen facility — is well suited to occupational trauma. What we don't currently have is first-responder-specific groups or specially certified first-responder staff. If dedicated programming is what you're looking for, tell admissions up front so they can be direct with you about fit.
- Is Warriors Path for first responders too?
- Warriors Path, at our Killeen location, is a dedicated track built specifically for veterans. First responders are genuinely welcome in our treatment programs — including trauma-informed therapy at Killeen — but Warriors Path itself is a veteran-specific program, not a combined veteran-and-first-responder track. We'd rather clear that up now than have you arrive expecting something that isn't quite what's offered.
- Do your clinicians understand police, fire, EMS, or corrections culture?
- Our clinicians are trauma-informed and experienced with occupational trauma, shift-work stress, and the culture of stigma around asking for help that's common in these professions. That said, this is general clinical competency, not a certified first-responder specialty program. Ask admissions directly about the clinical team at the location you're considering.
- Will my department or agency find out I'm in treatment?
- Your privacy is protected the same way it is for every client, under HIPAA and standard confidentiality practices. We don't contact employers, agencies, or departments without your authorization. Ask admissions about the specifics for your situation, especially if you have licensing, credentialing, or fitness-for-duty concerns.
- Is treatment covered by insurance?
- In most cases, yes. Most commercial and PPO plans provide coverage. Our admissions team verifies your specific benefits before you commit to anything.
