For most people asking about outpatient, the real question is not clinical. It is whether they can do this without losing the job that pays the rent and carries the insurance. Usually the answer is yes.
IOP runs three or five days a week. Standard outpatient is lighter still. PHP is the most intensive of the three and asks for most of your week, but you sleep at home or in sober living rather than on a unit. Which one fits is decided from your actual schedule at assessment, not assigned by default.
Bring your working week to the first call — shifts, school pickup, the days you genuinely cannot move. It is easier to build a plan around a real schedule than to discover the conflict in week two.

Virtual IOP — the only virtual program we run.
In-person outpatient requires living in or traveling to Killeen. That rules it out for a lot of Texas, which is exactly why the virtual program exists. Virtual IOP runs three days a week over several weeks, and it is delivered by the same Killeen team rather than outsourced.
It suits someone in Houston, Austin, McAllen or anywhere else in the state who cannot realistically be in a building three days a week. It also suits military families dealing with distance and a rotation.
Two things to know up front. It asks for a period of sobriety before you start, and it includes random drug testing — not as a trap, but because in a remote program those are among the few objective signals the team has. Admissions will tell you whether it fits your situation honestly, including when it does not.

Partial hospitalization is in person only, in Killeen. If PHP is the level you need, it means being here.
Killeen is our only Texas location with outpatient programming of any kind. Our Houston campus provides detox and residential care.
Stepping down
No new intake, no new strangers.
Detox, residential and outpatient all run on the Killeen campus. If you finish detox here and step into residential, then into IOP, it is one plan with the same clinical team throughout — the same building, the same records, the same people who already know your history.
That sounds administrative. In practice it is the difference between continuing treatment and starting it again. Explaining yourself from scratch to a new provider at the point you are most fragile is where a lot of people stop.
It also means the step-down is planned while you are still in the more intensive level, rather than arranged in the last few days.
Somewhere to live while you do it
Sober living for outpatient clients.
Outpatient assumes you have a stable place to sleep, and for a lot of people that assumption is the whole problem. If home is where the using happens, or there is no home to go to, an outpatient program on its own is being set up to fail.
We have sober living available to people in our Killeen outpatient programming. Eligibility is assessed by admissions and it is tied to being in treatment with us, so it is not a standalone housing service.
Raise it on the first call rather than later. It is far easier to plan around than to solve halfway through a program, and it changes which level of care makes sense in the first place.

Getting here
Not driving is a solvable problem.
Getting to a building three days a week is one of the most common practical obstacles to outpatient treatment, and it stops people who are otherwise ready. Say it on the first call — if you are in Texas we can often arrange transport, and it is a normal request rather than an awkward one.
The Killeen campus sits on S WS Young Drive, minutes from Fort Cavazos, and draws from across Central Texas. If you are further out than this, Virtual IOP is usually the better conversation.

Veterans and Fort Cavazos
Outpatient at the network's veteran flagship.
Killeen is where Warriors Path was built, and Fort Cavazos is next door. For service members and veterans that means outpatient treatment at the location with the most experience of it in the network, from a team that includes people who served.
TRICARE and TriWest are accepted here. Coverage varies by plan, so verification is the reliable answer rather than anything a page can promise. Virtual IOP also matters to this group, for anyone posted away from Central Texas or dealing with a rotation.
If a court is involved
Outpatient is often the level a court expects.
A court date, a probation condition or a Drug Court requirement is a normal reason to be here, and nobody on our end treats it as a mark against you. Case management supports the practical side of it.
Say on the first call that a court or a probation officer is involved, and what specifically they have asked for. It gets built into the plan from the start rather than handled at the end.
Paying for it
We accept most major insurance plans.
Most commercial and PPO plans cover medically necessary outpatient treatment, and TRICARE and TriWest are accepted here. What your plan covers depends on the plan and the level of care, which is why verification is free and takes a few minutes rather than being something we can quote in advance.
There is no obligation attached to finding out, and you can do it on someone else's behalf.

- Do you offer outpatient anywhere else in Texas?
- No. Killeen is our only Texas location with outpatient programming. Our Houston campus provides detox and residential care. If you are elsewhere in Texas, our Virtual IOP may be an option.
- What is the difference between PHP and IOP?
- PHP is the more intensive of the two — full days of programming, five days a week, with you sleeping at home or in sober living. IOP is fewer days and fewer hours, built to fit around work and family.
- Can I do outpatient online?
- Yes. Our Virtual IOP is the only virtual program we run, and it exists for people who cannot travel to Killeen. It is IOP specifically — PHP is in person only. Admissions will talk through whether it suits your situation.
- I don't have anywhere stable to live. Can I still do outpatient?
- Possibly. We have sober living available to people in our outpatient programming, subject to eligibility. Raise it on the first call so it can be planned rather than discovered later.
- I'm finishing detox — can I step straight into outpatient?
- Yes, and that is a common path here. Detox, residential and outpatient are all on the Killeen campus, so you continue with the same clinical team rather than starting again somewhere new.
- How do I get there if I don't drive?
- Tell admissions. If you are in Texas, we can often arrange transport, and Killeen serves Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Belton, Temple and the Fort Cavazos area.
